Can Faith Overcome Fear? (with FREE Printable!)

By Sarah Ann Leave a Comment

Can Faith Overcome Fear?

There it is looming in front of you; that mountain that seems impossible to move.

Forget moving that daunting thing, you would settle for a way around it or through it, basically any way to make this road seem not so rocky.

Maybe then this burden would feel bearable and life might stand a chance at returning to normal.

In the meantime, before this issue is resolved, you are battling a fear that threatens to swallow you whole.

This fear is all consuming, and gnaws at your heart until you wonder if it will explode.

This fear weighs you down with a force so powerful, you feel immobilized and incapable of life outside of this situation.

Yet somewhere in the recesses of your mind, you remember that God loves you and has promised to walk this uncertain path with you.

But is that true?  Can faith really help in this dark time?

As you grasp for hope and for comfort, take heart in these promises from God’s Word.

God will never leave nor forsake you.

Even in your darkest hour, you are never alone.  God is there, holding you in the midst of pain, and will never abandon you.

He will uphold you with His strength when yours is depleted, and will provide hope when all seems lost.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Our troubles are momentary.

Although the pain of this Earth may seem too much to bear, your troubles are momentary because this world is not your home.  God is preparing a place of peace and joy for all of His believers, and you can rest easy knowing it will be free from pain and fear.

“Therefore we do not lost heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  Four our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what it seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

God has a plan for you.

All hope may seem lost, but God has a plan for each and every life. While that plan is not free from disappointment or sorrow, there is comfort knowing that nothing takes Him by surprise or is too big for Him to handle.

He will lead you and guide through this life if you fix your eyes on Him, and allow Him to lead you through the great unknown.

” ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ ” Jeremiah 29:11

God will restore the brokenhearted.

When darkness threatens to consume and you’re afraid for the future, look up towards His glorious light that will pierce through even the darkest night.

God won’t leave you alone in sorrow and fear, but His beautiful love will eclipse the blackest of days, restoring hope and joy.  Even when life is forever changed and your worst nightmare comes true, there are new beginnings when you find your hope in the Lord.

“Then young women will dance and be glad, and young men and old as well.  I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.” Jeremiah 31:13

On those days when fear and anxiety threaten to consume, take heart.  The God who has created the world and conquered death is by your side, faithfully leading you out of the darkness and into the light! So yes, faith CAN conquer fear!
